Questions people ask before we start

If yours is not here, the 15-minute call is free and there is no wrong question to bring to it.

What does Taming Your Tech actually do?

Taming Your Tech is a systems and automation consultancy for service business owners. It brings enterprise-grade systems thinking to businesses too small to have an ops team. The work is practical: capture every lead in one place, make follow-up run without you, and keep the business visible where customers look you up.

Owners of service businesses who are doing all of it themselves. Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, remodelers, painters and HVAC, and just as often bookkeepers, salons or consultants. The size of the crew matters less than who handles the behind-the-scenes work. If everything in the business waits on you and nobody else can take it, you are the fit.

No. Taming Your Tech does not fix laptops, run your network, or staff a help desk. The work is the business side: where leads land, how follow-up happens, what customers see when they look you up, and which of the tools you already pay for should be talking to each other.
No. Trades are where most of the current clients are, so the examples, templates, and automations often speak in estimates, job sites, and seasonal swings. Any service business with the same shape, where the owner runs the whole back office alone, fits fine. If you are not sure, bring it to the call.
A free 15-minute call. You describe what is slowing you down, and the call ends with one recommendation: the single fix worth doing first. No proposal deck, no ladder of packages to compare. If nothing is worth paying for yet, that is a real answer and you will hear it.
Between $550 and $850, a fixed price you know before any work starts, delivered in one to two weeks. Four are on the menu: capturing leads in one place, follow-up that runs itself, a reconnect campaign to past customers, and getting found, with matching listings and easy review requests. Half at signing, half on delivery.
Monthly plans are priced on the call, because the right one depends on what you already have running. Each includes a one-time setup fee. There are three, and each builds on the one before: staying in touch with past customers, adding content and social, then adding automation monitoring and on-call help.
No. Quick Fixes are one time, with half paid at signing, half on delivery, and nothing recurring afterward. Monthly plans run month to month for the first two months so you can watch the work land. After that they move to six-month terms, and you can still end any time with 30 days’ written notice.
That is the normal starting point. Most owners know something is slipping without knowing which piece to pull first. The 15-minute call exists for exactly this: describe the symptoms, and you leave knowing which one to fix first and roughly what it takes.
No. Taming Your Tech never holds your passwords. Google Business Profile and Facebook let your account add Betsy as a manager or partner. For other tools, you add her as a named user for as long as the work runs. Where neither works, you stay at the keyboard on one screen-share.
Usually not. The first move is making what you already pay for work, whether that is Google Workspace or a half-configured CRM. Some fixes need a small service in your name, like the phone service for Lead Capture, with the monthly cost told before you sign. Taming Your Tech takes no referral fees from any vendor.
You own it. It is documented: what was built, how it runs, and what to do when something breaks. What gets built runs on your accounts. Email sends and automations watched on a monthly plan run on Taming Your Tech’s accounts, and your list comes back to you when you stop. About a year on, there is a free check-in.
No. That belongs with your bookkeeper, and touching the books without owning the systems feeding them is how duplicate entries get made. Taming Your Tech works on the systems around the books: where the lead came in, how the estimate went out, and how a finished job turns into a review request.
Betsy Walker, every time. Taming Your Tech is one person by design, so whoever you meet on the discovery call is who does the work. Betsy spent 25 years in IT, 13 of them scaling a startup from 18 to more than 800 people across 15 countries, ending as VP of Business Systems.
